Elvis Costello & The Rude 5 - 1991-05-29 - Los Angeles, CA

Elvis Costello & The Rude 5
1991-05-29
Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, CA

Audience recording, good quality
Available in both Lossless (FLAC) and mp3 (320 kbps) versions

In honor of his current Northeast US Solo Tour (which I have the great fortune to attend this week), I will be featuring Elvis Costello for the rest of this month and next. But we'll start back with where I left off last time (after featuring his '80's tours), and feature some of his '90's tours. First up, the Mighty Like A Rose tour, 1991. After extensive touring in 1989, both solo and with the Rude 5, Elvis took most of 1990 off, but returned in late 1990 to record Mighty Like A Rose with varying assemblages of musicians and producers from song to song, as well as another whole album of cover tunes (Kojak Variety), which would not be released until 1995. After release of Mighty Like a Rose in May 1991, Elvis began a major world tour with 'The Rude 5' hitting the US, Europe, Japan, and Australia throughout most of the rest of the year. Although this was not one of my favorite Elvis albums or periods, like all of his tours, it featured some very interesting and unique versions of some of his songs, and is worth checking out. This show is from very early in the tour (4th show), which began in California, and although this recording is not all that great, it is not bad for an audience recording.
